92 Monaco- A memory of the race in a letter to PH Cahier

PH,
Last night I was digging around You Tube with various search words and as always I started to think about races that we covered together. I started
thinking about the fucking crazy shit we did in Monaco together and of all of those things it had to be 1992. You Tube has probably ten posted videos
of varying length and different languages that show the last 5 laps of that race. I remember we were walking down the hill toward St. Devout when Mansell
dove into the pits to change what he thought was a flat tire and Senna came through in the lead. What was a boring fucking race up until that moment was
now a dog fight until the end. You immediately said " we have to get the finish" and we trotted on down to where the corner workers were at St. Devout.
Earlier that day before the race you will remember that we were at that corner joking around with them and helping to aim that 360 degree lens that the
TF1 guy was setting up on the inside of the corner so that he could get the start and the accent to Casino Square at the same time. We begged them to
let us go between the fence and the armco into an area that was just beyond the pit exit that was a red zone to get our finish line shot. Luckily they
remembered us and let us go. I remember holding both cameras above my head and walking sideways with my feet pointed straight out like Charlie
Chaplin as the space between the fence and the armco was so tight. I also remember Senna and Mansell coming very close to us as Senna tried to
protect the inside line. When we got to the area where we ended up shooting my hands were shaking so bad that I had to calm myself down so that I could
take the photo. While watching the video last night on You Tube I was looking for evidence of us each time they came by and I never could. Just as well.
I think that if Bernie or Pasquali ever figured out how you or I got there to make the photo , either one would probably be very mad or worse. Then if you
remember we made our patented Cahier/Griffin drag race get away from the Hermitage parking garage and were back in LGF in just over two hours. It
is a good thing that sometimes we don't play by all of the rules. A great race with our own great memories.
